Dorothy Garrod (1892-1968) was the first female professor in Archaeology at Cambridge University (and of Britain) (1938-1952). She was an expert in prehistory and conducted excavations in Kurdistan, Palestine, Bulgaria, France, Spain, Lebanon, etc. She is well-known for the identification of the Natufian culture (12,000-10,000 years BCE).
