Maarja Seire

As a research assistant for the PERSIA AND BABYLONIA project, my primary task is to prepare a text database which will later be connected with a database for name attestations. The result will be an online open access prosopographical database, which records as many people from the Neo-Babylonian and Persian periods (7th-4th century BC) as possible. In creating the database the project uses the legacy of Govert van Driel (1937-2002), a Leiden Assyriologist who pioneered the study of the Persian-period cuneiform records from Babylonia.

Research interests

Assyriology, cuneiform studies, Babylonia, Persian empire, social history, archive studies, prosopography, social network analysis
